Where Arguments Burn

Arguments and shouting are a common occurrence for many people. When two people argue, the world around them sinks into darkness, leaving them alone at the center. The atmosphere that arises is very oppressive; the arguing people almost literally glow. The “light” they radiate, however, is an ominous one, not one one would follow in times of need. Some wounds (physical/mental) don’t heal even with time, but remain hidden deep within us, open. The heart is the place we associate with feelings; cigarettes and the scars they leave symbolically represent the incurable wounds within each of us. Furthermore, cigarettes are also meant to represent physical wounds, as they are naturally harmful to us. Medium: Gouache on fine print mixed media paper

Painting about smokers’ conscious ignorance of the harms associated with smoking. The images on the packs no longer have any impact for most smokers, as they are so familiar. I incorporated the quote by Sartre, because as a smoker, you usually consciously accept risks associated with it.

Ronny and the yellow Rainboots

Concept art and first pages for an illustrated story. The protagonist, Ronny is a ladybug that goes on a quest to find a pair of tiny yellow rainboots that would fit him. On his quest he meets a fairy that helps him in the end.
